Vic TT ride to Eildon

Image
Vic TT offers riding for experienced and skilled riders only. Camped out at Kirth Kiln, I was invited to join the TT crew for a thrilling run to Eildon. I always get a bit nervous about riding with this crew. I never know what new crazy experience I'm signing up for! Maverick Octane at Eildon Dam It was good to see the TT riders screening and filtering the hopefuls trying to join in. Rookies trying to keep pace with experienced riders put themselves at serious risk. I watched a hopeful rider being tested out and then turned away due to his limited skills and concerns for his own safety. The Vic TT crew Seems I've been given the honorary mantle of Vic TT rider number 1. Thanks Mav and great to see you living the petrol-header's dream. "Passion has no limits!" Good to catch up with Phil again and I still can't believe how well he rides that 600cc Kwaka. Morning fog gave way to a gorgeous sunny day and dry roads! The real challenge of thi...

Submarine encounter and Jetski swap

Image
In a crazy 30 knot squall I came across a submarine. Ken let me ride his Jetski while I tought him how to sail the Hobie. Great fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3k9vm15Ed8 https://www.facebook.com/alexander.foreman/videos/10155174703121916/

Reunited!

Image
I managed to see my beautiful daughter Aurelia after 2 years of unexplained parental alienation! Alex and Aurelia Foreman On Saturday 10th March 2018 my ex actually listened to her daughter and turned up at an arranged meeting. I was sitting at the Broadway cafe expecting that my ex would not arrive and also feeling worried that if she did, my ex's alienation strategy may have worked and my daughter would be funny around me. However I was in for a very pleasant surprise. As soon as Aurelia saw me her eyes filled with tears. She ran to me with a huge smile on her face and wrapped her arms around me. My heart filled with joy and relief. It was a very emotional reunion. We sat and talked for what felt like hours. It was obvious she had been missing me quite badly and was shocked when I told her I had been trying to see her. Aurelia said she w ants to go to Queensland and see her Great Grandmother before she passes on. She told me she really wanted to spend the entire day wit...

Riding hell on the Sunshine Coast

Image
Nothing like a good rare T-bone, except when it involves a land-cruiser pulling out without looking! Bill was keen to show me the good roads around the Sunshine Coast, but 5 minutes into the ride he was cleaned up with me riding just behind him. The land-cruiser just pulled out in front of him from a T intersection. Bill did a great job of emergency breaking but the distance was just too short. Bill Hill seriously hurt after being T-boned His knee and leg were smashed. A huge gash on the back of his leg allowed his severed calf to hang out like a tongue. The ligaments in his leg were torn beyond repaid. Nasty! Fortunately several nurses were at the scene and provided first aid. Bill then underwent several surgeries on his leg. It was touch and go if it would have to come off but they managed to save it. Bill's high level of fitness was a key factor. No stopping this staunch old-school Kiwi Bill had pulled my caravan apart just prior to his accident, but s...

Old Woman Island / Emergency and Rescue

Image
Sailed Savage out of Moololaba and did a lap of Old Woman Island with 19 boats from the Hobie Island club. Felt good to sail in a fleet. The weather was perfect so after the group finished I headed out again for the rest of the day and did another lap of the Island. I came across a shark and a pod of dolphins! Looks like my selfie made the Hobie Island club's "best picture" The boat ramp was like a traffic jam! I might look like a bandit, but it's better than getting fried in the harsh Queensland sun! Old Woman Island Apparently this Island is THE best place to snorkel on the Sunshine Coast. I will have to come out here on a calm day with an anchor and try to find the shallow reefs. I probably sailed 35kms in total with two laps of the Island Emergency beaching and damage Headed out to try and sail from Mooloolaba to Caloundra. Family came down to watch Savage and I put out. My rudder was loose so Mum helped out and I...

Video: Fast sailing Lake Borumba with Heidi on the Hobie Adventure Island "Savage"

Image
A very precious family moment. On a stinking hot and humid day while on a camping trip in the rain forests, my sister decided to come sailing with me.  Savage showing off her high performance video: Camped out in the Imbil State Forest with Heidi From our campsite we went to Lake Borumba in the Imbil State Forest and nearly melted as we set up. It was so hot the bitumen was melted at the boat ramp. Setting up Hobie Island "Savage", Borumba Dam in background Molten tar on my sister's shoes Trampolines set up to add deck space for passengers Fortunately it was nice and cool on the water and we sailed for about 6 hours having a great time. Alex Foreman relaxing on the tramps The wind came and went. We both had to do a fair bit of peddling. It is deceptively hard work, especially when going out for many hours. I don't notice the fatigue at the time but once in shore it becomes very noticeable. The entire shorelin...
