Vic TT offers riding for experienced and skilled riders only. Camped out at Kirth Kiln, I was invited to join the TT crew for a thrilling run to Eildon. I always get a bit nervous about riding with this crew. I never know what new crazy experience I'm signing up for! I watched a hopeful rider being tested out and then turned away due to his limited skills and concerns for his own safety. Nothing like a good rare T-bone, except when it involves a land-cruiser pulling out without looking! Bill was keen to show me the good roads around the Sunshine Coast, but 5 minutes into the ride he was cleaned up with me riding just behind him. The land-cruiser just pulled out in front of him from a T intersection. Bill did a great job of emergency breaking but the distance was just too short. Bill Hill seriously hurt after being T-boned His knee and leg were smashed. A huge gash on the back of his leg allowed his severed calf to hang out like a tongue. The ligaments in his leg were torn beyond repaid. Nasty! Fortunately several nurses were at the scene and provided first aid. Bill then underwent several surgeries on his leg. Getting Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children and having a great day. That is what the Toy Run is all about. I hooked up with a few buddies for this huge ride. Hoisting motorcycle with crane onto ute tray My new  Mazda BT50 4x4  is higher than my old HiLux, and getting the  bike onto the HiLux  was awkward at best. My Uncle Ron suggested using an electric crane to get the bike onto the tray. I thought the idea was brilliant and cool because my Ute would become a robot. I could also use it to load the Hobie Adventure Island trimaran sailing kayak that I'm planning to get. So we tested the idea. A hasty last minute decision really paid off. Day after day of challenging corners, hard acceleration, remote wilderness, spectacular views, crisp fresh air, bizarre incidents, great food and good company (usually). When the roads are covered in moss, leaf litter and dead-fall instead of engine oil and litter, and you might pass one car in an hour, then you know your riding somewhere awesome. Over two spectacular rides I was led through the Yarra Ranges and Alpine National Park by riders with exceptional local knowledge. Glad I accepted this invitation!
