Aiming to live the dream - biking, boating, camping, travelling, own boss

Image
A lot of people have been asking me to start this blog, so here it goes. As a child I made a life changing decision. I decided that my life was going to be awesome, that I would earn the freedoms I was born with as an Australian, and that I would die having made a difference in the world. Initially I lived up to that promise. As a teenager I spent time on Balbarini Station  in the Northern Territory and grew up rough. By the age of 16, while still in high school, I had my pilots licence and my adventures really began. I flew to Kangaroo island, and all the way up the coast to the Whitsunday islands. Alex Foreman, age 18, flying a Cherokee Piper Archer II across Australia Alex Foreman, age 16, with Regina Foreman, Whitsunday Islands flight Around this time my passion for motorcycling also began. My mate Bill lent me his bike, a crappy GPZ250 where a part would fall off on every ride. After doing my rider-safe course, I yelled with joy when I first experien

Demo - Hoisting motorcycle onto ute tray using crane

Image
Demo of how I setup and use a crane to hoist my Triumph Sprint ST onto the tray of my Mazda BT50 4x4 so I can take it all over Australia with my caravan. There wasn't much info around on how to do this, so I hope it's helpful! Happy to answer any questions. https://youtu.be/Nb-MYbjkXjs

2 Japanese Nurses sailing on my Hobie AI, Victoria Australia

Image
I took Aki and Saori out sailing on the Hobie at Cannons Creek at low tide. Water was so low it was difficult to launch and I got stuck on a filthy "mud bar". Didn't know if the Hobie could take 3 people but it handled it well. Kept the sail partially furled just in case. Loved listening to Saori squealing and having fun as we cut through waves and wind. Aki kicked back and took it in her stride like she always does. A fun day with smiles all around, that's what sailing is all about! Video: https://youtu.be/0sonZr7klDc

J24 Spinnaker practice in 30 knot gusts

Image
Bloody windy and gusty day, good chance to practice hoisting the troublesome Spinnaker and work unfamiliar positions on JFORCE before the state championships. We made lots of mistakes and got our technique pretty much down pat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0wJfegaTDs

I took a Japanese Nurse caravaning through South Australia

Image
Aki flew down from Japan so we took out the new 21' Goldstar Liberty Tourer for a camping trip in South Australia, complete with riding and kayaking. Camped at Munnum on the Murray (one of my fav camp sites), then cruised to KingstonSE and filled my water tanks with stinking bore water YUCK! After flushing the tanks we explored Beachport then set up at Tantaloona and went riding around the area. The Caravan had a lot of problems, will do a separate video on those and also Goldstar's actions to help resolve those problems. Will also do a few vids on our adventures around Mt Gambier. Aki is loving the adventure, but does find all the problems with the caravan a bit frustrating. Tantaloona offers a great 48hr free RV site, with the Tantaloona Tiger Hotel across the road and toilets, dump point and water. It's self-contained only so no camping. Ewens Ponds - swimming in crystal spring-water paradise!

Image
An underwater garden paradise. Ewens Ponds are fed by underground aquifers and have crystal clear spring-water! Full of lush native plants and fish, the ponds make for spectacular snorkeling and free-diving. If you head near Mt Gambier near the SA / VIC border I recommend you go there. It's free (for now) but it's cold so bring your wet-suit. Below I've included a location link and more info on the ponds from National Parks. Please like and sub to my channel so I can bring more cool content. https://youtu.be/cIBY9U9R6ug https://goo.gl/maps/Xo7k8VgsAAC2 https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/find-a-park/Browse_by_region/Limestone_Coast/ewens-ponds-conservation-park

Local living in Asaka and Kujukuri Beach Japan

Image
Aki and I rented a small Japanese home well off the tourist trail. Most locals have never seen a western man here. This is Asaka, a suburb near Tokyo. Our street Our little home The home is more like a caravan than a western house. I have to duck to get through the door. The kichen is smaller than my caravan kitchen. The bed is a loft bed which takes up most of the ceiling in the living room. The bathroom is virtually a caravan bathroom. Aki said this is a standard home for single people in Japan. One thing that surprised me was the technology. The single electric stove heated much faster than a gas burner. The instant hot water had a preset temperature so showers are always perfect and no waiting for hot water. There is no gas due to the earthquake risk. A standard Japanese lunch. YUM! Breakfast while working Suburban park from my front gate. Walking trail through park Park has a large assault obstacle course Streams and a beautif

Science fiction is reality in Japan

Cool JAXA space tech, ASIMO the robot, insane bullet train ride, submarine/star trek cruise, giant transformer, and hanging out in an international space station module. Touring Tokyo Bay on awesome submarine cruiser The Japanese know how to make a cruise exciting. This would be the strangest boat I've ever been on. It's like something out of Star Trek. The bar Inside the boat is very light and spacious. A very pleasant way to see the sights. I was surprised by the absence of private water sport activity in such a rich city. Maybe it's not allowed? Golden Godzilla dropping Bullet Train How sick are bullet trains?? A sort of blend between airline and rail, bullet trains are insanely fast! They cruise at 320km/h and some can reach over 600km/h. At the station they slow down but still fly past at wild speeds. Heading into the country via bullet train - hell yes!!! Just like being in a jet. Bullet Train Sushi - Yum! Spa
